Program Services Internship

Position Title: Program Services Intern
Department: Administration
Reports To: Executive Director
Salary: Unpaid
FLSA Status: Unpaid Non-profit Internship

Internship Overview:

Under the direction of the executive director, the program services internship provides an introduction into the varied administrative, communication, leadership and strategic responsibilities of an executive director in general, and more specifically in the non-profit social services environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities, including, but may not be limited to:
  • Internal communication with Board members and staff to support critical program services
  • External communication with non-profit, for-profit, and community partners, current and prospective donors, and program participants
  • Constituent Communications
  • Provide input and help guide youth leadership development program and the teen safe driving initiative
  • Provide input and develop Youth Board of Directors
  • Use community outreach opportunities to further existing relationships with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Duval County Public Schools, and The Allstate Foundation.
Strategic Planning
  • Learn how a Board of Directors works through many-to-one or one-to-one training sessions
  • Learn about non-profit financial statements, non-profit Board roles and governance, and non-profit forecasting
  • Construct and distribute meeting minutes while attending monthly Board of Director meetings
  • Data entry and organization
  • File management
  • Learn about how non-profits comply with local, state, and federal regulations


  • Currently enrolled in coursework in management, social science or similar degree field (such as psychology).
  • Excellent writing skills including syntax, usage, and creativity.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, Internet, and e-mail applications.
  • Learn about how non-profits comply with local, state, and federal regulations
